The world is a mollusk of your choice.
My husband, under just about any situation.
I am the eponymous Gilly that loves to wander. A few years ago my husband and I decided to stop buying gifts and start going on adventures. I have developed a travel style that is a mix of tourist olympics, finding great pubs, and eating my way through whatever the city throws at me.
I love hitting the highlights of a city and learning the history behind it. But my favorite reward is a local beer at a cozy pub. My husband, bless him, finds the most interesting cocktail bars and I cry in Westminster Abbey when I met all my “dead friends.”
To wander means being willing to walk miles with no destinations. Take chances on sketchy looking doors that often open up to the most interesting places. And occasionally handing a man with a boat 10 euro to hopefully not be left on a secluded beach.
Where Gilly Wanders was created to share the things I’ve learned traveling through cities I love. Learn from my mistakes and build off my suggestions because, as my husband has been known to say, the world is a mollusk of your choice.
